Biography of John D. Hooker, Jr., Esq.
Mr. Hooker obtained his undergraduate degree from Hampden-Sydney College, followed by his Juris Doctorate at the Marshall School of Law of the College of William and Mary. Graduating in 1973, Mr. Hooker began practice in October of 1973. He has continually practiced actively throughout Virginia Beach and the entire Hampton Roads Region, but has also defended cases in the states of North Carolina, Maryland, South Carolina and Arkansas. Mr. Hooker is a criminal defense lawyer representing clients in both Federal and State courts. In the past thirty-two (32) years he has represented clients on felony charges ranging from homicide, arson, hostage situations, abduction, malicious wounding, felonious assault, firearms, narcotics (possession, distribution, trafficking), robbery, bank robberies, rape, fraud, larceny, burglary, internet crimes, felony and misdemeanor driving under the influence, etc. In addition to his criminal defense practice, Mr. Hooker has represented many clients on diverse personal injury cases including automobile accidents, products liability, and premises liability. He is a member of not only the Virginia Beach Bar Association and Virginia State Bar, but also the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Virginia College of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Criminal Law section of the Virginia State Bar, American Bar Association, and a past member of the American Trial Lawyers Association. He served on the Virginia State Bar Council for 8 years.
